MINISTRIES

The primary way in which we fulfill our vision to “Discover Mission” is through our Ministry Teams. Nearly all of the ministry which takes place at Discovery is carried out through teams of people like you who want to serve.

Some of our ministry teams are responsible for an aspect of our Sunday worship service, some are focused on ministering to people during the week, and others mainly exist to reach out to our community and to the world.

Serving on a ministry teams is a practical means by which we fulfill our vision to help people Discover Christ, Community, and Mission.

We keep an updated list of our ministry teams and team leaders in our weekly bulletins and monthly newsletters so that you can contact them if you would like to serve on a ministry team. We also regularly inform the congregation concerning opportunities to serve at Discovery.

We want YOU to join us in serving on a ministry team so that you might Discover Mission and experience the joy of making a difference in the world through helping others!

Women’s Ministry

Our women’s ministry group is dedicated to helping women become Women of Valor, who celebrate every heart, pray and serve the hurt and lost, and call upon His name.

The women’s ministry offers various women’s Bible studies, game nights, activities, women’s retreats, and more. Contact Lisa Del Toro for more information.

Men’s Ministry

Join us the third Saturday of the Month for breakfast and fellowship. We often stay after breakfast to serve the church by assisting the maintenance crew with various projects around the church building. Contact Dennis Tanner for more information.

Ruth’s Kitchen Outreach

Ruth’s Kitchen is the food distribution ministry of Discovery Christian Community. Each week, we share Christ’s love and gospel along with free food to hundreds of families in our area every Tuesday at 12:30 pm and Thursday at 6:30 pm. If you are in need, or if you would like to minister those who are, contact Kelsey Gann for more info.

Rescue Mission Outreach

The Rescue Mission of Salt Lake has been ministering to the homeless of Salt Lake since 1972. They offer thousands of meals, food and shelter each year, leading many to faith in Christ and also providing a free, comprehensive recovery program to help people be freed from addiction and reintegrated into society. For more information on the Rescue Mission, click here, and for more background information, click here.

Jesus said he was sent to preach the gospel to the poor (Luke 4:18), and so are we! Join us as we go out to the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake every second Monday of the month to host their nightly chapel service. The service starts at 7:00 pm and runs for about 30 minutes, after which dinner is served to the homeless who attend the service. Contact Kevin King for more information and to let him know you if plan to go!
